Hey guys, need some expertise. I was on conroe yesterday and was pitching a texas rigged worm, 2/0 with a 1/4 ounce weight and a yamamoto senko, through really light limbs back into the 10 feet of water behind it. I constantly was getting caught up as I pulled through the sticks. I watch a lot of fishing videos and I see people throwing plastic through way way way heavier stuff and it never gets caught up. What the heck am I doing wrong? I don't even throw in any kind of brush because I know it is a terrible idea and itll get caught up in no time. And I know that is where I really want to be fishing.

Guide me o wise ones!

ok, so the actual hook was getting caught in brush as it pulled over a branch. So definitely, i could see a weighted hook helping with orientation as it pulls over brush. Wouldn't the problem be worse with a TexPosed hook?

As far as the kale hook with a wire guard, does someone make those already set up? I couldn't find em on the internet. I want to fish not make rigs to fish with... i learned that when i started reloading... id much rather shoot than make bullets to shoot.

"PEG IT!"... i don't think that would help in my case as the weight wasn't getting caught up, it was the hook.

Thank you all for your replies.

if I had to guess you are probably using the wrong style hook for your setup.

The Peg It is to keep that weight from sliding down the line and leaving your worm hung on a limb. When fishing heavy cover us as light a weight as you can get by with for pitching and flipping. Keep the weight pegged against the worm. You will see the big difference when you go back to that same spot and get after those shallow fish behind the brush. Use heavy line and a winch type rod/real setup. You need to get to the 3 ft. water behind the brush.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.
