Went to Monticello this past Saturday. Got there at 6:30 AM, only two other rigs in the lot. Water temp was 62 at the ramp. Was on our first spot (big long point a little past the power lines) a little before 7. Was there about 45 minutes with no takers. Moved to Power Line cove and started catching fish. Threw lots of stuff at them but seemed that only liked Watermelon Red Super Flukes with the tails dyed chartreuse. Water temp in Power Line cove was 67. From about 8-2 we caught 12 in total all in that cove and all but 2 were between 16"-19" (did not weigh them). Several were females with eggs. Most were caught almost in the dirt with a few in the deeper (relatively) lily pad stems. Several other boats came in the cove while we were there and caught fish as well so I would guess at least 20 fish were caught that day in this cove. Left the cove about 2:00 (had a birthday party to go to).

Went into Smith Creek on the way out to the ramp. Really looks like they sprayed the grass, reeds and lily pads in this cove as normally there would be lily pad stems all over the south side and back of the cove and they were gone. I had been in the cove right after Christmas and it was loaded with stems and emerging lily pads. Now everything is gone.

Stopped by the discharge just to check the water temp and it was an even 70. They had one stack going but it must not have been generating. Looked like the lake had dropped maybe a foot since the end of December.

Got back to the ramp about 2:45 and now there were at least 25 rigs there. It was overcast all day with SW winds maybe 12-20 MPH.

If you go to Monticello from Dallas, do not go the back way the road is closed for some reason about a half mile once you turn onto County Rd 2500.

This back way from I-30 you exit on Frontage Rd (I-30 Exit #156) to County Road 2500 then turn right where it T-intersects with Hwy 127 then you drive over the lake and turn left onto the Titus County park road.

County is having to replace part of the road. The last big rain we had washed it out. A couple of our school bus drivers are having to go another way on they're route as well. Not sure how long it will be closed.

Thanks racing75! I was wondering what was up with the road being closed.
