Fishing with the Gainesville Bass Club this year- our first tournament was today and thought I'd share the little bit I know.
26 boats fished it. 21 lbs took first. 14 lbs took second, and 11 lbs took third. Saturday was a MUCH better day from the looks of it as the top 5 finishers all came from Saturday.
We had ~12 bites today boated 5 fish, 4 keepers (I missed several early on a buzz bait). 1 14"er and 3 16"ers for 8.95 lbs and 6th overall (someone correct me if I counted wrong at the ramp!). Caught all of our fish with the boat in 8-10' of water and fishing around the stick ups. Water temps Friday were all the way up to 66 degrees in some areas, but today they stayed around 55-58 degrees. Still pretty stained where we were. Every fish we caught from Friday and today was on a black or black/blue colored bait.
I hate we didn't finish any better, but I guess that's all part of it! Special thanks to Donald Harper for helping me break down my lake map. Every fish caught today was caught in an area he picked out on the map. Also a big thanks to Brad for the hook up on the baits and both him and James Biggs for the general shop talk.

Good report Josh. Sounds like a couple of people caught them really good and you didn't do bad yourself. I was up Tuesday and caught them on a jerkbait. Couldn't get bit on a jig or plastic. The fish I caught were in 10' of water. So are all of Gainesville's tournaments on Sundays?

6th on that lake right now, plus the amount of local knowledge in that club is nothing to be ashamed of. You fished against a bunch of guys that have 20+ years on the lake and beat a bunch of them. If one of those missed fish would have come in the boat you would have been right there in contention for a check. I'll see if I can help you out a little on lewisville before your next tournament, don't be surprised if mid teens will put you at the top of the field out there.

Who had the 21 lbs? Tad Kirchoff and Scott Ford? they usually win the G-ville tourneys on Texoma. SRitchey the Gainesville bass club fishes Sat, and Sun, you can fish one day but not the other. but for the past 10 plus years that I was fishing with them the majority of the checks were won on Sat. Not a bad club and a lot of old salts in it.

Thanks for sharing the report Josh. Glad I could help with the mapping and will talk to you soon about taking a good look at what your next lake has to offer.
