Out of nowhere my wife asked if we could get away for a weekend without the kids and go kayaking. I kayak fish regularly, but she is pretty green. The only request she has is that there must be good food in the area.

Im looking for a nice place to spend a couple days on the water with someone less experienced. Maybe an easy river float or a quiet lake. Something within a 2-3 hours of McKinney with some decent food and lodging.

Any suggestions?

Get a cabin up at Broken Bow.Love taking the wife and kids out there. Nice (close) romantic getaway.

Or ditch the yaks and fly to Vegas for the 3 day weekend. banana

There is some beautiful scenery on Caddo Lake. Stay at a B&B, paddle some quiet backwaters, eat dinner in Jefferson.

More than a 2 to 3 hour drive but this is the place to go.

Caddo is one of my absolute favorites but there are actually a lot of good spots around Fork also, just make sure there is not a major Bass Tourney going on that weekend.
