Once you shoot your lure and click the bail......what is your preferred tactic? (Do you let it sink all the way to bottom? Slow retrieve? Ect.)

Also curious what combination line & jighead weight works best.

Anyone ever tried any of the braid lines for dock shooting?

I usually let it sink to the bottom and slowly hop it or swim it back near the bottom. Sometimes the crappie are suspended off the bottom and you'll do better swimming it back if they're 4' down in 8' water. I use 4 or 6 lb hi vis line with a 1/16 head and a plastic thump buddy or other plastic. Plastic skips better than hand tied or maribou. Main thing is to work at it. Don't try it for 30 minutes and say, "man, I can't do this." Just work at it and you'll get it and eventually be rewarded nicely. Watch your line non stop b/c sometimes you only see the bite and don't feel it.

I don't live for the thump, but I sure do like it.

I use a 1/16-1/32 ounce head and #10suffix tangerine orange braid it works good for me especially if you get hung up you can usually get free without breaking off.

6 pound hi-viz line and 1/16 jig probably 80% of the time. No braid...does not come off the spool fast enough. As far as tactic...there are 100's, but usually let it fall to the bottom and then work the lower 2-3' of water on the way back to the boat.
