Fished fork again last Friday and found my fish had moved after a great days the previous Friday and the prior Sunday. Stayed too long trying and hoping to get them to bite. Managed one fish around five pounds. Ran way up north and found 60 degree water but could not get bit. Felt I fished too fast. I did find 63 degree water in the mid lake coves/creeks. Threw jigging spoons deep and chatterbaits/moving baits shallow and jigs on the creek channels.

It's not gonna take a month for it to bust loose. It's gonna happen sooner rather than later. They are up shallow but you gotta work for them. Thursday and Friday were good out there in regards to bites. I found 63.6 water temps Friday up north, way up north. Dink's schooling at the mouths of spawning coves, 5-6 foot.. Big girls staging in places over look IMO.. Good luck and think outside the box, we haven't had a winter and the fish are acting so. You nailed the part about thinking outside the box for sure. You just got to put your head down and fish. They are there for sure with more coming in daily. At this point a lot of the fish in the more popular areas have seen all the bladed jigs and lipless crankbaits they want to see. Throwing something moving that is a bit more subtle can be money. Getting in line and throwing the same bait the 20 boats in front of you just threw is a recipe for a slow to bad day fishing wise to me.

Fish Saturday morning until noon, fished some staging flats, first with spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, had two strikes on the chatterbait. Switched to a small LC jerkbait and boated 2, one dink on a flat, and one 6 pounder in the back of a small creek.

I fished in Little Mustang all day, with a bunch of other boats. Got one decent under 2.13 on one of my new Finch Nasty Thumpers in green pumpkin. No other bites at all on plastics or cranks.
Glad to know that you found what you were looking for and that it worked for you! We caught a few over the weekend also. Black/Blue seemed to work best for me this weekend. They were choking it on Saturday... I mean, you could close their mouths and just see the tip of the blade sticking out! Today, seemed like they were slapping at it. Felt like today was more of a reaction, because we would bang it off something and then they would smash it. Ran into another angler that was throwing one also, and he made a similar comment about the fish slapping at it when he caught one. I think the fish are moving around a lot right now, and don't have any issue going in an area that has a bunch of boats. I just try to be respectful of their space, and I have confidence that there's a reasonable chance that a fish or two has moved in since the last angler passed through.

Started the day at about 7:30 way up in the Lake Fork Creek chocolate milk. Fished up there for a few hours then headed back below 2946. Water was stained, but nothing like the mud way up north. Water temp was 62 at 8am up in LFC and 57 in the pockets further south around noon. Didn't get a bite until around noon after moving south. Ended the day with 8 with the biggest about 3.5lb.

Sounds like it was tough overall, with a few good fish mixed in. Looking forward to the weeks to come!! I coach and teach so I am looking forward to spring break! I hope this front and rain in the forecast doesn't set the fish back much. I plan on fishing as much as possible (or at least as much as the budget allows) during spring break!!!

Hey, I am fishing champs this weekend on Fork and was wondering if anyone had any bait selections or GPS coordinates you could give me on where they are? How's that for outside the box? Good luck to all. If the tourney goes like practice did, then I will once again be funding the payout for the rest of you guys!
PM me to let me know how it was!

Caught a lot of fish over the past weekend but they seemed to be so scattered. Overall good weekend but caught way more dinks than anything

Typical report for me regarding mutha forker. Stay at it, guys! If I was to go there, I'd fish a 3/4oz trap all day hoping for one giant bite. I'd cover lots of water. The normal areas I fish I would not get bit, so I would take a chance on one big dumb female. I love females, even dumb ones...... Best plan I have seen. Something in "Milo"....

Fished Birch ALL DAY saturday. She was pretty tight lipped. Managed a 3 and a 5-12 before lunch. 0 after lunch. Must have made her mad because she stumped me on the way out. Spun hub, bent prop, bent prop shaft. I guess I am crazy cuz I still love her! Will be back soon as I get over the damage. Glad I have Bob Lewellen for Insurance Agent. Looks like I will be out less than $400. Probably a $1500 repair. Also a big thank you to another pair of guys that were still fishing late back in Birch that gave me a tow on the way out. I would have been 9:PM getting back to 2496 ramp. I still say it was a great day of fishing!!
