Howdy pahtners. I'm new to Dallas. I just got a boat and I'm keeping it near Lewisville. I've been on Lewisville 5 days in the last two weeks. Water temps 49 initially and then up to 56 two days ago. Water very stained. Vis about a foot. Fishing all west of I35 bridge. Seeing bait on my graph in 20-30 feet. Fished deep with A rig and jig without success. I really have no idea what species Im looking at on the Humminbird (new to this whole thing). Mostly have focused on points around Hickory Creek. Also fished 1-5 feet around bushes in this area with creatures, spinnerbait, squarebill, "finesse" A rig, chatterbait etc you name it. In 5 days I have two bass on the rattle trap and that's it. People are telling me "Lewisville is a watersports lake" or "Lewisville is a striper/hybrid lake" or "the only thing in Lewisville is dead bodies" or "go to Ray Roberts or Fork." But, I mean, it's water in Texas...it's got to have some bass right?

You are on the right track w/ presentation @ Hickory Creek. Lewisville is pretty frustrating in cold water. They should be getting close though. My best advice is.....slowwwwwww dowwwwwn. Then when you think you are going slow, cut that speed in half, and you'll be better.

After 15 trips of getting skunked in December I quit fishing there till the water warms up. May give it a try tomorrow. If I go I'll let you know if I find anything

I have been out about 10 times over the last 3 weeks from the bank. I fish for about an hour and a half each trip in the evenings.
3 weeks ago it was slowwww, caught 2 in a day and skunked a couple of times.
Last week I started to find a pattern and was able to bring in fish on both trips.
Monday I stayed on my pattern and caught 2, lost a nice fish.
Yesterday I caught 2 males and a chunky female
Today my pattern got me skunked, but I watched the guy beside me catch 1.

I have been fishing slower than I like to fish. It is almost boring how slow I am fishing. Most of the fish I am catching are not hitting very hard, just picking it up. I have not noticed any particular structure or cover doing better than others and I haven't taken the boat yet.
My advice for Lewisville...
Hickory creek has been slow for a few years, go east
Moving baits tend to be better than worms for numbers, but I will use soft plastics most of the time.
Color matters on Lewisville and many of the hot East Tx colors are useless.
Jig fishing on Lewisville is some where between not good and sucks.
Pre spawn is warming up right now so they will start hitting the faster presentation in the next few weeks. Keep trying and you will find some fish. Its only going to get better

Thanks outfishdya!

I'm going to try the area around Pilot Knoll today (I know you said east but I'm curious about this area).

Anyone out there today please say hi! Silver Triton with red Power Poles.

I came from up North (Minnesota) last April and have found Lewisville and Ray Roberts very difficult to fish. Just so big and the water is very high compared to previous years. Taking advice from the locals here I stay off of Lewisville on the weekends and hit Ray Roberts instead. I have finally got to the point that I can catch fish on Lewisville, but I target only one small area. I tend to drive out East and fish as the lakes are smaller, similar to where I'm from. Plus, power plant lakes are just fun. Welcome and good luck.

so many PM's...

The best advice for bass fishing I can give you is to downsize your baits. Tons of bass in the lake but it's been a while since I've seen anything of size. The bass are holding tight to cover in 2-4 ft of water right now.

Lewisville is a screwy lake, to be honest. BUT, if you spend some time out there, things start to make a lot of sense. Caught the lake record of 11-8 in late October 1997 on a CB out of Arrowhead launch ramp, off the roadbed. The roadbed through Tower Bay is also a good place to fish when it is cold, they normally have some of the tires over the roadbed. Anything else, I will PM you on. Hope this helps.

Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.
