I built a small deck to mount the trolling motor on last year. But I just didn't like the small area to stand and fish.
Well, I just got back from buying some 1" aluminum to frame up a larger area to stand. In the next couple weeks I'll be building on it after I get off work.

I'm using 1" aluminum square stock to build a frame.

Got a little progress done tonight.

I drilled out the live well cover so I can raise it up to the new level

I did add a couple more braces for additional support.

Adding some wood.

Ok so I decided to do the carpet thing a little different this time. instead of using carpet I am going to paint on something called Textured Deck Over.It says it will have a textured slip-resistant finish, but is also barefoot friendly.
But here's the thing. I was just reading the back of the label and it says " Do not use if rain is expected within 24 hours". "Or if humidity is expected to be greater then 80%"

So today I'm off work wishing the forecast isn't for rain for the next 2-3 days.

Ok the rain stopped and I got to put some paint down. First impression is this stuff is THICK!!

It goes on smooth and fills small cracks.

I got the first coat on the two sheets. I also painted a couple pieces that I'll make a trolling motor mount from later.

And 4-1/2 later I just placed the second coat on going the opposite direction .


I got some paint on my hands but it comes off pretty easy with warm soapy water and a little scrubbing.

I like it a lot!

I haven't screwed the plywood down yet so it looks uneven right now. The appearance on the wood itself is pretty nice.

After mounting the frame/ 3/4" plywood to the Jon I put a couple 2x4 blocks under the plywood and mounted the front seat base.

Then shot a few small screws to mount the live well lid. I'll most likely come back with larger screws. I'll also be putting a cushion lid cover for my granddaughter to sit on.

Now you can't have a noisy lid slamming down while your fishing. So I put some marine weatherseal on the inside of the lid.



It's not near as loud when the lid is closed now.

I spent a little more time on it this afternoon and got the frame and plywood secured. I also got the trolling motor mounted.

I can hear those fish calling......

After all the time and money I've put in this boat I hate to do this. But I just am not getting out on the lake to justify having a boat.
