I've got a small section of my lake that always used to produce for me-good numbers and some decent size. Basically its a row of boathouses-about 15 in all. Hit that section just about every time out but after awhile I noticed I wasn't catching as much-even when I tied on different stuff to try and get the bite back.

Did I just overfish this area? Anybody else have this happen?

Yes you can, but what you are describing fishing that type of water will replenish almost daily.

You are probably just picking off the ones that will cooperate. I am sure that more than just those few fish live under there. We would make it a point to talk to owners of any of the docks to get permission to brush out the shady side which helps to pull them out from under the dock. If you had 3 or 4 of those 15 docks brushed then you would have something special.

Quit eating them would help.

They fill the pressure and get educated. Also may not reload with fish very fast or several other reasons could be the problem.

Throw some baits they have not seen and you might see an uptick on your catches.

Yes you can overfish an area, but typically dock fish are resident fish and tend to reside there much of the year. Yes there will be exceptions and each lake and scenario is different but for the most part those are resident fish.

Try an experiment..... Run your docks as usual. Do a visual examination on the first fish you catch and find an identifying mark. Wait a couple of hours and run that same dock again and see if it bites again.

I have on many occasions caught the same fish within an hour or so.
