Just got back with staying there for a week. It's fine if you want to catch kingfish and snapper. Otherwise you'd be better off fishing the Gulf of Mexico. Cozumal is great for scuba gear. Ferry runs from Playa del carmen to Cozumal. Playa del Carmen is OK but like I said, if you like going for a boat ride and cathcing the same species that you catch inshore the Gulf it's OK. It's rather expensive. Place I stayed at cost me about 1200.00 a day excluding fishing.

My experience was an expensive boat ride.

Cancun is not known as a first class fishing destination. I have heard a few good
reports , fishing inshore for baby Tarpon.
