My trolling motor has 10 speeds,..no problem..

All this wind talk and trolling motors that wouldn't keep you moving has reminded me a few times I had to use an anchor to keep my boat from getting smashed to bits.

By the time you're close enough to shore to bust a trolling motor prop it's too late for anchor to be much help but there are times when one of them, can save your bacon until you can get the problem sorted out - for me that usually involves something about the big motor not starting or not wanting to stay running.

Nowadays, no one hardly uses them for fishing and there's probably people who don't even carry one. I think it can be really good to have one handy that can be deployed in a hurry. Also good to test it out sometime when the winds blowing hard in order to know how much line you have to let out for it to hold your boat without coming loose. The few times I've had to use one to stay off the rocks, I didn't have space for a second try at it.

They'll be up for the challenge for sure!!
