In thinking of swapping out my gen 1 Lowrance HDS units and going with Helix units. For the price you can get 2 units for the cost of one Lowrance unit. The mapping looks amazing and then SI and DI seems off the charts too. Looking for opinions or suggestions. Switching brands may be the biggest whip but it may not be too bad.

I'm switching over, too. Got Helix 12 & 9 ordered from David @ Shut up and Fish. Can't wait to get it on the boat. Maybe I'll be able to start catching fish now...... noidea

I love the new Helix units, as I am running (3) of the Helix 10s this year. The screen seems much clearer than the 1199 and their are a few more/different option for display features... I am using the internal antennae on each of them and it has worked great so far. I am using the Navionics platinum and Nav+ in the units for mapping.

Interesting thread. I'm running Gen1 Lowrance and looking to upgrade. I've been researching the pricing and can't believe Lowrance is still selling units with the price differences. Would like to here more from those running Helix units. Hate to make the switch, but it's hard to stay loyal with the prices they are asking.

I have used the HB 1100s for a few years now. Was contemplating changing to Lowrance Touch units until the Helix units came out. Took a chance and bought a Helix 10. I love it. All the features work VERY well and I like the mapping. One of the things I like most though is their brightness in the sunlight. Can see them easily even with polarized glasses on. So happy with th e 10 I bought another unit for my bow.

I have Lowrance, but no side scan. I was thinking about adding the Helix 9 SI and was wondering how good it was.

The Helix 10 has about 5,800 more pixels per square inch than the 1100 series.
The Helix 12 has about double the pixels per square inch of the 1100 series.

I ended up getting a good deal on a Lowrance HDS 9 Gen 2 Touch - it was going to be more expensive and more labor intensive to switch everything from Lowrance to HB - the Helix units look awesome but so do the Lowrance units. For the most part it probable personal preference or in a case like mine, it is just cheaper and easier to stay with the brand you already have.

Can the Helix units be linked together now? My Helix 7 can't but not sure about the newer ones. How are those of you that are running multiple units sharing GPS info between them? Or are you?

The Helix 9, 10, and 12 series are linkable via Ethernet to share GPS data, sonar data, sensors and Ethernet accessories. No limit to have many units can be connected to share.
