This innovative fishing rig allows anglers to fish lures or baits in almost any depth water. Jigs, spoons, live and dead baits can be rigged this way to catch everything from bass and walleyes, to trout and panfish, and in saltwater for snook, seatrout, tarpon, redfish and many others. Youtube.com

I crappie fish like this most of the time. C200 styrofoam corks from Walmart, 1/16th oz weedless jighead, Slab Bandit.
I add a small weight 12"s above the jig to make the cork sit like I want it in the water, so there is little resistance when the crappie takes the jig. I change the small weight size if I fish marabou jigs or minnows.
Mark your top. Cast past your target and once the cork stands up just reel slowly. I use this technique in water up to 18' deep. To me fishing depth is critical to catching crappie and repeating the same presentation.
