Just wondering how long anyone on here has been fishing and how many hooks you have had someone remove from yourselves. I've been extremely lucky, been fishing over 50 years and have not had a hook past the barb, knock on wood. Watch it happen the next time I go out. Thanks for the input.

I've pulled two out of my own finger. Just have to gut through the pushing it through all the way and then cut it off.

Little sandies flop around a lot.

When I was 19 my brother went to cast a crankbait and caught me on the back of my head. Two of the hook points on one treble buried under the skin. After trying to pull it out, I decided we should just keep fishing and go to the emergency room when it go dark. Well I made another cast and the thought of the hook removal made me pass out. When I came to we were headed back to shore. 4 hours later the hook was removed with two small incisions to clip the barb. No stitches needed. My brother jokes that the 190 pounder he caught back then keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Fortunately it has not happened to me. I have pulled some out of people though. The pleasures of being a medic!

Im good for one about every 4-5 years.

One of the only reasons I carry a GOOD pair of side cutters in the boat at all times.

ONE TIME,..so far, two of the barbs of a DD-22 in the palm of my hand with a 2 pound bass attached. Removed the bass,..then
Had to push the barbs out to cut them off..took about 30 minutes. Most pain I can remember in my life..

Twice and I pray that doesn't happen again. Fishing in Al a few years back, went to lip a green two pound large mouth she flipped away from my boat and buried the front treble in my thumb. I did the old line wrap and jerk trick to remove it the hook came out but I buried the back treble in my index finger. Dumb move! A Dr. cut out the second hook about an hour later.

I am up to about 6 or 7 in the last 3 or 4 years.

only one; happened about 25 years ago. I was fishing a jerk bait near a weed bed on Fork (yes, Alice, there were weeds on Fork years ago). made a cast, hung a weed, and gave it a hard jerk; it landed in my thigh muscle and stuck one of the hooks. cut the line and kept fishing (hey, they were biting). about 3 hours later got back to the cabin and used my Dad's stuff that he used for a toothache, and some ice, to numb the skin. used 2 pair of needle nose pliers to push the hook on through and out, and snipped off the barb, and then backed it out. not too much pain because of how I numbed it, but I still let out several choice words.

hope I haven't jinxed myself with this....

One in the calf it was a treble hook and it was completely buried I tried to get it out for several hours unsuccessfully then went to the doctor...

The nephew understands what DUCK means now.
