So my new to me boat is 10 years old. The carpet lifts at the front of the boat and it's easy to tell its replacement time. I've watched enough videos I'm confident I can do the deed. A Google search into my boat shows it came with 18 oz carpet. I see lots of places selling 20 and even 24 oz carpet.

How much can I go up (if any) and still be able to close my rod lockers. I don't want to make that kind of mistake.

just finished installing new carpet in my boat. 20 oz is what i went with. ordered from boatcarpet.com and the glue was AAT-290. looks great. the hardest part was cleaning all the old adhesive off.

Fishin1288... i called the number on the website for a quote. Left voicemail for a callback.

My question is this... is 20 or 24 Oz so thick that I can't close my compartments after I install? Is it that much thicker than the 18 Oz that was original equipment.

well sorry to hear that you called and didnt get a call back ... i think the number on the website is the one in Houston. guess i should always post my # on my posts for our location here in north texas . guess ii'll get that fixed .

if it came from the factory with 18 , i wouldnt go any higher than 20 just to be on the safe side .

It's the 972 897 number listed on the website as N. TEXAS.

Can you pm me a quote (approx) to do an 18 foot boat.

He quoted me $1400 which I could live with but my single console has a lot of vertical areas. He can't get it to adhere to vertical. I guess I could have a spray in Bedliner material on those areas but by then I'd have 1/3 of the value of the boat in floor covering.

I found some 18 oz carpet. I will probably just go that route and diy... About $250 and some labor

Thanks for the replies

I used the 24 oz on my Nitro. It was VERY tight on the lids. I had to get an electric shaver and kinda buzz the inside edges a little. Now it's perfect. And with the deck pad it is almost as nice as my living room. Haha.
