I tie the Palomar on fluoro 20# on my jig and trigs, 15# on my spinnerbaits on 12# med and deep cranks and have never had a break off from the knot. Just keep it from twisting and wet it cinching it down and pay attention to the loop. I even use it on braid and mono.

Zero issues, but I wet it generously when I cinch it down.

It's an "ok" knot but it does stress if not lubricated before you cinch it down. The Jam knot is one of the best, easiest knots to tie and is super strong. Give it a try.

Using a Palomar knot on fluorocarbon causes the line to cut itself. I use the Palomar on braid

The palomar knot is one of the worst possible knots you can use on fluorocarbon. I don't know of many pros who use it for fc. I would learn a new knot, preferably the uni knot (its a slip knot).
But, like mentioned, you should not be breaking off with a crankbait hookset. It is really not even a hookset, it is more of strong sweep.
Regardless of what line and knot combination you use, wet the line when cinching the knot and check for line fray.

The only knot I use is the Palomar and it does not cut the line. I used to have a problem on hook sets but it wasn't the line, it was me trying to break their backs and rip their lips off. I use flouro with small cranks and never have a problem. This may not be it but when you tie cranks make sure your line doesn't tie where the split ring ends are. They will eventually work around your line and all the way out or the end will rub your knot till it breaks. It's a known thing, palomar knots will cut the line if there's a twist in them. Not only have I seen it but I talked to a well-known tour pro about it. And you can google it and see. It's not recommended that you use palomar with FC, you should use a cinch knot of some type. But to each his own.

I had the same problem. Switched to reverse cinch and now the break offs are nill to none.
