I posted this in boats and motors but figured this would be seen here more.
I've got a 2005 225 hpdi, and #6 has about 45lbs compression where 1-5 are at 100-105. Motor has been torn apart and the wall of 6 is pretty marred up. I've been quoted on a reman power head, and I feel like it's way high. Unfortunately I'm limited on marine mechanics, if the price is worth it I'd be willing to drive it somewhere to have someone fix it. Anybody in here a mechanic or can get me in touch with someone they trust?

John Bowden @ Bowden Marine is my go to guy but they are located in Humble Texas, 3000 Atascocita Rd.....quite a ways from you. But if you need a re-build they are as good as it gets.

If you want it done right, take it to Hydro-Tec in Mizzou. It's worth the drive.

Texas Outboard Motor Rebuilders in Tool,Tx. Has 2 yr 100% & 2 yr 50% warranty on powerhead. Seriously consider them for a rebuild. Where else will you get that kind of warranty on an older motor for $4500-$6500 depending on amount of warranty you choose. They are the go to for machining for a lot of motor rebuilders, not just their own rebuilds. You will not be disappointed.

Texas outboard rebuild did ( complete outboard rebuild) on my 2005 HPDI 225 almost two years ago and I have not had one problem with it since cost me about 5 grand with a 4 year warranty good people up there but he no longer rebuilds the HPDI's something to do with the computer causing problems after he rebuilt them. I guess I got lucky. I run the dog [censored] out of my motor and it is still going!
Like said above I would have Hydro-tech rebuild it I hear they are virtually bullet proof.

Just read Petes post. Didn't know he doesn't do HPDI's anymore. Sorry. It's where my 94' 200 Vindicator will be going this summer.
