I have a Houston era All-star that I absolutely love, but the rod butt/cap thing came off a while ago and now it's awkward to fish with. I've seen some guys use those big padded rod butts, but when I google it I either get big tuna rig sized stuff, or literally butts holding rods (which are really nice bikinis usually).

Can anyone recommend either a replacement rod butt or one of the big padded ones?

Do yall like the padded ones? Pros? Cons?

Thank you

Thanks jkrez for the post-I have the exact same rod and same problem. I think the blank is actually poking a little through so I am glad to know where I can buy a replacement now Reel Time. I'm assuming it's a glue-on type deal??

You can also use rubber cane or crutch feet; they are easiest to glue on with a paste type epoxy like PC11

This is off the subject but have you seen the slip on rod butt cap that Shaw Grigsby uses on his rods? They look bulky and heavy to me but whoever makes them is one of his sponsors so he has one on every rod.
