I shop Bass Pro shops, then order what I want from Tackle Warehouse, no problems here.

I buy from both BPS and Tackle Warehouse. Academy and Gander Mountain, too. I like Tackle Warehouse just fine, but if I have a tournament tomorrow and figure out something I need today, ordering and having it delivered won't really do me any good.

I had a lady today wanted me to pay with my debit card, then pump gas, and return to actually pay with my debit card....

I have never in my life had to pay twice. She said the first time is only to turn the pump on and the second time will actually pay for the gas pumped.

I told her I'm not filling the tank up. She said it has always been like that.....

And this has what to do with the topic of the thread?

Usually buy from TW on big stuff. Was at BPS today because of sales. When I shop at TW, I don't get to see the cute young sales staff in tight jeans swinging their arses aroung. That's worth a buck at my age.

I am a big fan of Bass Pro,Cabela's,Academy & Tackle Warehouse. I have never had a problem with any of the customer service people at any of these stores. Cudo's to them.

I shop at Academy 80%, Bass Pro 10% and Tackle Warehouse 10%. Typically I just shop at BP and TW when they have their big sales. Today I purchased 3 pro qualifier/carbonlite combos(2-7"MH, 1-7"M), I tried to swap the rods and they wouldn't allow it, the longest rod in the combo is 7"MH from what I was told and two reel ratio options. Grapevine location just brought out another 300 combos around 6:30pm. Also, you can get the same deal online and free shipping.

The best thing I have ever found at BPS is the exit.

woot Exit, that's funny!! It's a longggkggg drive over there from where I live, so it better be something special.
I did, luckily as it turns out, talk to a gal named Helen about the JM Titanium 9 bait casting reel signature series, said they were out and had been but, I could come in to bring an old reel and get the discount on the new Titanium.
Went all the way over there and only to find, she found one for me !!
She went out of her way to help me......I like that!! thumb

So, the stories out kinda, for me. Academy/Gander Mountain and even Cablelas are all closer....usually save more money at Academy but, they don't have 'everything'....

Never had an issue at BPS or really any other sporting good store. I like BPS but understand with their overhead prices are going to be higher than an online store. There is probably no comparison in costs to run both business models. I try to stock up on items when on sale like the Spring sale. That said if BPS was well out of my way I probably would look elsewhere for logistical reasons alone. As it is I drive past BPS Grapevine twice per day on my way to and from work. I live just over 5 minutes from there so really it is about the same distance for me as Academy or even Walmart.

Guys you can bitch all you want about BPS but I am old enough to remember when we did not have many options and very thankful we have all the options we do for tackle.

They are there.
We need every tackle store we can get. They've put most of the small ones out of bidness.

I'm torn between the cold beer and the exit.
