I've never fished it and me and a buddy planning a trip around March 6 or so. Don't need specific areas but maybe just a place to start. Which 3rd of the lake or maybe a creek. Don't want to run the lake.

That way you won't be where I am either, LOL
But from there you could slip into Six mile or Indian Mounds by water or short trailer job to six mile

With the water level, almost no bad area on the lake. Any major Creek will be good then.

Most of the creeks are bigger than the entire Lake Grapevine. Pic one, put your head down, and get to fishin... What part of the lake depends on how you want to fish.

That is exactly how we practiced and fished out there. We picked a couple of areas and just broke them down. Caught a lot of fish in the trips there this year by doing that.

I wish it was always easy. All we did was find narrower creeks with good water in channel that had smaller flats along the lips in 1-4' of water. Multiple types of cover was a bonus. If it had wood, grass, etc all together it was a place to start. We stayed really shallow later in the days. Even got some great buzzbait bites in practice but for some odd reason the water temps fell a bit more than they should ion tournament day. The bite was a little slower early but we pretty well got bit all day. We had a limit in an hour and a half or so then culled here and there throughout the day. we also caught a bunch in the last hour as you could tell they were moving a ton. All bites came on Texas rigged plastics in shallow water. Most bites were fairly hard but a few light ones. We stayed near the ramp to maximize fishing time. We kept our heads down and felt like with the sheer number of bites we were getting we would get some bigger bites.
all in all a really fun day. It was almost a carbon copy of Rayburn in regards to numbers etc.

That lake has produced and I guess continues to produce really large bass for so long. It's so dang big though, you will have to make many trips there to actually know 'how to fish' that lake.
I do know Jaret Ladda has been there and fished it a number of times. I'm sure Mark Perry has as well
Best recommendation could give anyone is HIRE A GUIDE, even if for only 1/2 day. They will know, show you and tell you how to fish it.
Great lake...was always my 'Dream Bucket List' lake to fish.
Thanks to Tom Sistrunk i.e. Fin & Feather Resort and his friend and guide, Darold Gleason.....got to do that....had an absolute BALL.

God Bless

Thanks for the info. We both like to fish somewhat shallow, trigs, jigs, swim baits, etc.
