You can't go wrong with the 580g in green... On another note I'm still working out the details on our other deal...need some time.

Guys, the blue mirror lens is a gray base lens in both the 400 and 580 lenses, the green mirror lens is an amber base lens in the 400's only and copper in the 580's. The silver mirror is also a copper base but is only available in the 580 lens in polycarbonate or glass.

Costa has two patents related to 580G. My optometrist said they are the way to go from an optical quality perspective. Here's what the website says about 580G:

Our 580 technology goes beyond polarization to produce the clearest lenses on the planet. It selectively filters out the harsh yellow and harmful high-energy ultraviolet blue light, making colors brighter and objects appear more defined. So no matter what you are doing under the sun, you’ll see it in stunning detail.

Specific to 580G:
Superior clarity
20% thinner and 22% lighter than average polarized glass
Encapsulated mirrors
100% polarized to kill glare and reduce eye strain
100% UV protected for maximum protection

Anyone ever use their "readers"

I broke down and got 580 green over copper last week. I kick myself for waiting for so long.

If budget is a concern, the 400G are 98% as good as the 580G for much cheaper. The poly lenses are great for driving, but you will sacrifice clarity while fishing. The 400G are clearer than the 580P (I have both).

There's no 580g green mirror?

Absolutely there is. Just not in rimless frames. You can get the 580p or 580g in any full frame style.

I have 2 pairs of blackfin costas. One in the 580G Silver mirror and one in the 580g Green mirror. Both have the amber base lens. I think the silver mirror is better for those cloudy darker days and better in low light conditions. The green mirror is way better when the sun is up and it's brighter out. Overall I actually find myself wearing the silver mirror more than the green mirror.
