Hello everyone been awhile since I've been on the forum and was just wondering if anyone knew of some good spots for some bass fishing around the Irving area. I'm aware of the canals but no one ever gives specific enough directions so I'm always lost when I head up there. I'm willing to drive anywhere within 30 min or so as long as it's worth it. Also really in need of a good place to be able to catch some bait with a cast net. Trinity is too high in the spots I usually go to so any tips is appreciated! Thank you and fish on!!!

Most of the park ponds in Irving have bass in them. As far as the canals go, the fish are all over so just pick a spot and fish.

Ooh, I have fished there but never knew what it was called. I used to (5 years ago) catch alot of green sunfish on jigs from the bridge. Never caught any bass out of there. I haven't caught anything out there since they drained it.

Jefferson Park still mystifies me though...lol...It is my kryptonite....

I work in that area and drive around alot, here lately I've been looking at the river and where it is overflowing its banks. If you look around I-635 and Luna Rd. right were the creek flows under the interstate on the south side the river is flowing out of its banks about 200ft into some trees, you can see the trees/shrub brush thats all under water, looks to be about 3-4ft deep, I would go there and hit it up!

Jefferson Park still mystifies me though...lol...It is my kryptonite.... I use to fish Jefferson Park alot. I always had really good luck with watermelon red fleck creature bait t-rigged. Just cast and slowly drag it back in. The best spots (most fish) seemed to be along the side where the apartment is behind you. I liked to start out by the tree down from the bridge and cast across and and cover that good then cross the bridge and work down to the MacArthur Blvd bridge. Right where the side walk levels out there is a deep hole from the nutria out in the water. I have caught cats and bass out of that hole. A little ways down the bank towards MacArthur there is a spot where all the water runs off from the apartment complex and makes a cloudy pool. That was always pretty good. Then a little ways more toward MacArthur there is a laydown in the water. That holds fish sometimes. Then as you keep going towards MacArthur I liked to cast out past the point into the middle and drag the t-rig back by the point. I also had success in there with black/blue worms, creatures and craws but I didn't have much success with anything white or pink or bright yellow or green. It seemed like the darker the better. I used to get bit pretty good using Big Mouth Baits with Bite Juice I think they were called (worms). Hope that helps! P.S. I'm Jealous!! I moved back to Nebraska and everything is still frozen here! Can't wait to get back down there and do some fishing with Mike McFarland on Lake Fork in April!
