Here's a question you don't see every day. What are some techniques/lures/specific of the lake I can use to specifically catch high numbers of smaller bass (one pounders)? It may sound odd but when taking newbies out on the water they want to catch something and catch something fairly fast and regular. I can fish all day on a couple of bites. I just enjoy being outdoors and on the water. But for many, especially those new to bass fishing, one trip like that can turn them off.
So, What are you best lures/techniques/areas to put something in the boat?

You may not have these options; but try to work it in.
- Pick the warmest nights and days to go this time of year.
- Down size as mentioned above.
- Know your lake, go often and pick the productive areas.
- Throw a pond or two into the mix.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

Norman crappie crank bait on spinning rod and 8lb. test, Texas rig 4" worm, minnow and a bobber will get it done too! I use all of these when taking kids out for the fishing merit badge.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

For ponds near my house I like using the road runner jigheads (1/8oz) with the Lake Fork sickle tail (minnow) found in the crappie section at Bass Pro. You will catch bass, bluegill, crappie, and even catfish. It flat out catches them and is easy to fish. I like the chartreuse colors. On Grapevine I have my girlfriend throw it when fishing from the back of the boat and she catches small largemouth and white bass.
