First off I have to say I've been a trolling this site for years and really enjoy the advice ya'll give and the stories of success!!! I've been fishing my whole life and I've never caught a blue cat. So long story short my girlfriend wants to go fishing for valentine's day. We've caught bass and channel cats but never blues, so I've been on Google maps and found some spots that look promising, I'm thinking about trying under the bridge on Lucas rd on the east side of the lake, and throwing our lines out towards the mouth of the cove. I'm not asking for secret spots, I'm just seeking some advice that might help our chances of landing a nice one from the bank. I'm probably going to go with chicken breast as bait because I don't have a cast net for fresh shad. But any tips or advice would be great. Thanks guys and I know the rules if the girlfriend catches one I'll post a pic of her for ya'll!!

I would go to white rock creek.. Go to the famous bend, throw a castnet get some good gizzards and find you a spot on the bank at tickey creek! I always do pretty good at tickey this time of year. As for chicken breast, I never use it.? Good luck

Thank you very much!!! I'm going to swing by Academy and pick up a cast net this evening I was going to get some bloody chicken breast and soak it in red Kool-aid and garlic salt just incase I couldn't catch any live shad. My girlfriend has lived in Frisco for a couple years and I just moved up here from Arlington so going from chasing bass on Joe Pool. I used to live in Corpus Christi and have surf fished for bull reds and sharks a ton of times. My girlfriend didn't start fishing till we started dating and she's hooked but has only caught bass and smaller channel cats, I would love for her to hook onto something that has some weight and fight. We catch and release anything big but hopefully can catch a few 1 to 2 pound eater cats!!!

Pay Captain Larry 60 bucks and fish off his party boat. It worth it. Hell I spend 60 bucks before I get to the lake on beer bait tackle and gas.....

I've heard alot about this "bend" in white rock creek. Since I moved back to mckinney I've had trouble finding me some good creek shad spots for this time of the year and I don't wanna drive all the way back to my place in flower mound at the alton bridge.

Could someone explain the bend in white rock creek for me? Looking at the map on google I see what looks to be a sharp bend north of loop 12 next to a bridge and road called Lawther Dr? Is this the bend everyone is talking about?

Also I'd be willing to trade some catching spots on the west side of the metroplex for some shad catching spots off the north end of lavon or anywhere close to mckinney that is, PM me if you wanna swap some spot location smile I know I seen some weekend before last in sister grove but I didn't know that area well and it looked awfully brushy, didnt wanna risk losing a brand new net

PM me with any questions, I'll be happy to respond. Depending on the day, I may even be able to take you out and show you a few good spots for bait and blues.
