Went to Livingston today to fish with my dad and had a great day. We didn't catch a ton but what we did catch was quality. We went to slay the whites but they weren't cooperating but we both managed to land a couple of nice large mouths and a few really nice crappie to boot. I haven't jig fished for crappie in probably 25 years so I had a lot of relearning to do. Overall it was a great day - just being on the water and talking the day away. If you have the opportunity to do it take your dad fishing before you regret not doing it. Today could have been considered mundane in fishing standards but it's one I won't soon forget.

I've been planning to go fish with my dad for a couple of months. He isn't getting any younger, so I best get it done, so there won't be any regrets later.

I had the pleasure of taking my dad fishing many times and I will never forget those memories. He passed about 7 months ago and I am grateful for all the memories we had on the water. Don't ever take it for granted. Great post!

There's hardly anything I miss more than taking my dad fishing. Enjoy every one you can while you can!

Treasure the time you get to spend with your father, I would give any thing to have one more day with my father.

My dad has been gone 23 years but I can remember fishing in the bay near South Padre with him and all the conversations we had, all the fish we caught. He was a great fisherman and a greater person than I could ever hope to be. Like you, I would love to have him and Mom back even for just a day.

Going fishing with my dad was always the best of times. We always caught fish, no matter where we went. Back in the day we would camp on the banks of Possum Kingdom or on the islands of Texoma. He would come in from work on Fridays and tell me we would be leaving out in the morning. I would go sleep in the boat just to make sure he did not leave me behind. When his fishing buddies would ask where I was my dad would tell him not to worry I was in the boat asleep and drive off. They would always get a chuckle out of it. I really miss the times driving a motor home with a bunch of his buddies to Guerrero. He has been gone for 25 years but there are times I can be out alone and recall those memories like they just happened.

I hug both my parents every time when I see him. I fished regularly with my dad on weekend or when I'm free. He's old school fishing off the bank. I take him on the boat and we bumped heads and laughed about it. Absolutely true..treasure those moments...life is too short.
