Thinking about taking out the yak in about 2 weeks. Im thinking/targeting the areas where the Paluxy meets the Brazos (around 67) and south of that maybe to 1118/1175... Thoughts/ ideas if you've been here

There is a place you can camp and fish on the river there. Of course it gets hammered by the weekenders.

It has been quite a while since I checked but Tres Rios would not allow river access unless you were camped there.
You can put in under the 67 bridge but that may not be the safest.

As you are driving back toward Fort Worth from Glen Rose, pass over the river bridge and look off to your right (south), unless the river is really full, there is a large gravel bank down there where one will see plenty of bank fishermen/recreational users. And, you'll often see some floaters from the canoe rental place upstream.

But, that access under 67 would make me nervous as it isn't clear what public parking might be available down there (I think I see at least one sign indicating one area is private property), what other issues you might run into (theft).

I did look on Google Earth and the river twists and turns right below there. It could be there are some possible areas to launch from down a little farther if you could determine what farm roads to follow, then a place to drop in safely.

This is the issue so often, isn't it? Finding safe and intended places to launch on rivers is often a mess. It reminds me of Jeep commercials over the years where the vehicle flashes by down highways then back roads showing off its assets and off-road muscle, then pulls up with a dude standing next to his Jeep looking over the edge of a mountain cliff into miles and miles of clean air and open views.

Except, in real life, these pristine and isolated areas are often off limits; in others, there is some sketchy crowd hanging around where you wonder if your car or trailer will be there when you return.

Too bad Texas can't promote more drop in areas to access rivers.

Brad

That's the problem almost anywhere any more. Thieves. Even in a state park parking area your vehicle isn't safe.

You can put in below 67. Never had any problems with safety or security. Avoid spring break and summer time weekends/holidays as the "tube hatch" will be thick. Fishing can be pretty good. As mentioned tres rios only allows campers access. The canoe & tube rental place has a take out they might let you use, but I've never asked them about it. To take out at 1175 you will probably want some help carrying yaks. Too rocky & too far for a cart. I wouldn't leave a vehicle there unattended at night...

Ive fished for Catfish from the bank there but never taken the yaz. It does have a drop off spot where I have seen the canoe rentals dropping off at. Next time i go i will let y'all know!! I still haven't tryed out this yak i was gifted.. its a sit in (believe its a pelican angler x100) lol but its too tempting to not try that spot even if i can only use the yak to get me to other banks.
