I am not sure a boat will do you much good either...running the creek when it is flooded is just about impossible.

not to mention, that the nearest Boat ramp was Marshall creek, but it be flooded too.. you will need a larger boat to get from a Good boat ramp on Grapevine (lol not yet) to get to the creek, and then you will most likely be too big in the creek. you may need to try 35W bridge, and work back east a bit... but not sure that will be good either. Oh and Just an FYI, there are some VERY LARGE HOGS in that area so always be on the look out and safe.

this is what I was thinking. theres also a trick to getting halfway between 35 and 377 that I discovered last year while bow hunting. There is a little paintball range called DFW Adventure Park. Its located off of Cole Ct or CR 338. Turn off 114 and go north and i believe there are signs. Pull in there and ask if you can park here. They always let me park here and from here its about a mile or less walk north to the creek. Its an easy walk since its all on the abandoned road thats closed. If the paintball place is slow they'll even let you pull around to the back of their property and park and hop the fence and walk down, saves about 1/4mile walk. Learned that last year and it made accessing some of the less traveled portions easier to get to.

Yea in driving over further up unless there is an obstacle down stream flows are great for them to go way up.

You must be near the rock hole just across the creek from Aero Valley Airport. I have caught many a sack full of crappie and channels out of that hole. It was way back when there was still an old iron bridge on that road. The bridge washed out several years ago during the last big flood that took out GV spillway. Back then I could drive right up to the bridge. After the bridge washed out they closed the road right there at the bottom of the hill. Never went back up there after that. Thought is was private property now.

There used to be a concrete levy across the creek just west of 377 bridge. With the water so high it is no obstacle for the fish to move on upstream. Go get em.

BTW, that rock hole has some monster gator gar in it during the summer. I have hung some huge ones in there and got one out over 6ft one time. Would be a good place to bow fish.

Has anyone jumped out there In a kayak or waded. Went my boat on grapevine the other day and they were pumping water out so fish were like we aren't biting.

I kayaked the flooded area last week of Jan. 2016. The water level was roughly 50 yards from parking lot. It was no problem for me to wheel my kayak in there. Fished for about 2-3 hours, marked fished at 28-40 feet of water under the 377 bridge. I would have gone further westward like pioneers from the ole old west wink But, after 2-3 hours of fishing, just couldn't get them to bite. The channel is manageable with a small kayak. Maybe 10-12 ft.
