I realize there have been a few threads lately on sunglasses but I am interested in prescription glasses. My insurance allows $200 for one pair. Looked at Costas and could get the frames for $130 but the prescription lenses run the cost up to around $500 which is out of my budget not to mention, I read they farm out the prescription lenses so you may not even be getting the same quality of lense as normal Costas.

Who has a good quality prescription lense closer to the $200 range? I'd like to stay under $300.

I have checked with the Rudy Project, Amphibia, and Oakley. They were all in the ballpark of $500

I went with ray ban on script sunglasses.

I bit the bullet and bought the prescription Costas. Love them, but they cost double any rod/reel combo I own.

My company will pay 200 ish per year for Safety Glasses. I went to walmart and had some bifocal polarized glasses done that were safety rated. I do not like the frames, don't fit well but heck for stout.

I need to find something else. If I bought a 700 dollar pair, I would loose them first rattle out of the box.

I was told Wiley X are good and lower price, but havent had a chance to look at them.

Check out Wiley X on FramesDirect.com. I had a pair for about $300. Nothing fancy but really good lenses and safety rated.

I bought a used pair of Wiley X for $60. Sent them in with my prescription and got them done for $250. That was the best deal I could find at $310. I have a satisfaction agreement for 90 days. If I don't like them they will put everything back the way it was and I can go another route on the fishing glasses.

I just did the dark lenses and bifocal on the bottom as low as they could put it. The no line added another $75 and the colored lenses added another $100. I stayed away from that.

I had thought about Wileyx. they get decent reviews for a cheaper product but I couldn't find ingo on what the lenses would cost. I had thought about Rayban and trying to get prices on maui jim. After Costas and Smiths, I don't gimd much info as far as being hood fishing glasses. I lose them too easily to justify $500 plus Costa's warranty just seemed wrong when I saw that they charge for repairs for workmanship or material deficiency. I know it's only lile $15 but it is the principle of the matter for something that you are paying for quality.

Wileyx seems to be the best option for mid range price

I'm on my second pair of prescription costas. If your employer provides the option I would recommend using a flexible spending account or a health savings account to cover the cost.You will not be sorry spending the extra money. Trust me the end will justify the means.Oh and my lenses are authentic Costa lenses. I've tried Maui Jim,(they were nice just not made for fisherman),and Smith's Really liked the Smith's to, the frames were to heavy and uncomfortable after several hours. Good luck.

Walmart used to carry a Liberty brand. I got a pair a few years ago bifocals and all the bells and whistles and I think I paid just over $200.00. They fit great and I still use them.

Amphibia. Two week turn around. Local company and they float so you won't lose them to bottom of lake. ANSI rated for safety and anti fog. Best price around and they support the guys on the TFF www.amphibiaeyegear.com

My Amphibia experience was a disaster. Took around 60 days. Company kept dropping the ball. in order to get them to reach completion unfortunately had to rely on FB page. This caused the pres to get involved. Shouldn't have gone to that level. They still didn't come back right but at that point I was worn out. My next pair will be Costa or Maui.

Costa rx is the same 580 technology and lense used in their non rx glasses.

The cost to repair Costas under the lifetime warranty is $12. This covers the return shipping.

Thinking about contacts but leaning towards glasses. I had dismissed even looking at amphibias because I had read somewhere that the prescription lenses did not float due to added weight but just checked their site and they say that they do.
