So I am finally upgrading from my old used and abused Lightning rods. Gonna be fishing out of the yak mostly...jigging and casting jigs and small cranks. Read a lot of positive things about Pro Angler rods and I am leaning that way. Thinkin about getting a 6.5' and a 8'...but have never used them. I do dock/bank fish regularly as well, so castability and backbone are important. I know $50 aint much, but explaining fishing gear to a pregnant wife is futile!!! Any input is greatly appreciated! BTW, will be putting them w Pflueger President reels if that matters. Thanks and tight lines!

Get a bass pro microlite rod in a 7'6" UL action, put your choice of small reel on it. I use these rods personally and on all of my guide trips and i have no complaints, plus you can buy gear guard and and if you break it they replace it. I think that rod is $44. I throw small cranks, small top waters, rooster tails, and jig fish for crappie with these rods. The 7'6" and a full spool of line will cast a 1/32 oz jig under a bobber as far as you would ever need effortlessly.

The pro angler is a good rod, but when it comes to one rod to do it all. I would also look at the ugly stik, and lew's. Both are tops for one rod fishing and can be found at any store around.

You have suggested two excellent rods at any price. Both PAs you listed will do anything you want. They are much lighter than the off the shelf rods.

I enjoy my ugly stick elite, I use it for casting in the spring and the little winter creek fishing I do... 49.99 is the normal price but it's always a nice deal to be found on them in the spring...
