The boat I bought has two blue tops. Was wondering how long these batteries typically last if properly maintained? Just wondering because I have always run interstate and was a little nervous moving to a battery I am not familiar with

What you have is a great battery. In my opinion their quality is far superior to Interstate, a brand many feel (myself included) has turned to junk over recent years. You will probably balk at the price for Optima when its time to replace if you are used to Intercrap pricing.

If. "properly maintained"? Just plug em in when not in use. Great batteries.

361V..... a little thing that often kills batteries that would last much longer is.....WATER! Proper maintenance isn't just plugging in the charger. People forget that batteries they buy for boats go through a lot of charge/discharge cycles and many need distilled water added to bring the electrolyte level back to within acceptable range. Of course the Optima batteries are sealed, and therefore great for people who just aren't going to check the electrolyte level.

Best batteries on the market IMO. Plus they have a 3 year full replacement warranty.

I have 4 Optima's which is specifically what he asked about. Sealed batteries. Plug em in to a quality automatic charger and forget about em. I have had great luck with them but they are expensive. :-)

My apologies 361V. I did not read back and had assumed I made my standard mention of "properly maintained" when in fact it was the OP who used that term..... And my plug was obviously for the larger population that uses flooded cell batteries.

The absolutely best thing about the Optima Battery`s is that you will not have corrosion problems at the connections because the gas when being charged is eliminated. Just get the correct Optima for what you are going to use it for. I see people buying the wrong battery`s for the trolling battery`s a lot.

Its all I use! The last cranking battery lasted me 7yrs! You can get good deals off of Amazon, but I don't think you can get the regular warranty if you buy them from there! As 361V said, just plug in and go!

You need proper chargeing equipment for Optimas. They are great batteries BUT will die early if not charged correctly. The charger should produce at least 10 amps to EACH battery and it should produce 13.6 volts I think. That number might be off, go on line and look at Optimas web site. Most on board chargers do not produce the correct voltage, so the battery never reaches it full charging, which overtime kills the battery.

Would someone please who owns Optima batteries post a picture of the charger they use? or what type. I had Optima and changed because it died after about eight months but I'm thinking the charger was the issue.

Most of your newer chargers should work as long as they are made for sealed type batteries.

This is designed for AGM and Spiral Cell batteries. It's is a two bank, 40amp per bank charger. $$$$$...but worth it I guess. Sounds like a very high price to get a few batteries and special chargers. For a boat. I think my 3 bank and 3 flooded batteries cost me about $500. For the price of 3 Optimas and a couple of these, around $2000, I'd rather replace all of my batteries and charger every 4 years. Lol.

The dealer here told me last week that he would no longer be carrying the blue tops because 3 months ago they moved the facility to Mexico and they won't be produced as they were in the United States - Hum don't know ,but he sold a lot as he has a battery wholesale business
