It will be my first time fishing Sam Rayburn. I want to fish the five fingers area and I was wondering what is a good boat ramp on the southwestern side of the lake. I'm only in 18 foot bass boat. I would also like a ramp that's easy for one man to launch and retrieve a boat.

Thanks in advance

Either launch in five fingers or rayburn park. If the weather is stable, Westwood across the lake.

I was hoping there would be a good ramp closer to highway 63 since I will be coming from the Houston area and I was hoping I wouldn't have to drive up and around the lake to get to the ramps around the 5 fingers

Westwood like Jared suggested. If you are not 100% confident in your boat handling skills I would drive around.

Thanks, I'm confident in my boat handling skills I also plan on going on a day with light wind. How much does the Westwood ramp cost to use?

3$ or free. I've never launched there. I didn't mean to offend you. Wind has been bad the last few days. I crossed the Sam today but I do not recommend that. She's pretty open of stumps down on that end. 45 or run the troughs. Good luck and be careful!

Westwood is almost a straight shot. However Parking is at a minimum. Parking lot usually will hold no more than 8 to 10 trailers. But if you get there early you should be fine. Straight shot to Colemans, Five fingers, Norris..... Its a free ramp.

Your best option off of Hwy 63 would be Sandy Creek ramp. It's a little steep so if you've had any problems in the past coming up ramps, then you prolly should opt for Westwood. It's not dangerous or anything like that...it's just a light half ton pickup with nothing in the bed will spin on it if it's wet.

It's very rarely busy and would be a good place to launch by yourself.

And Sandy is a straight shot across the lake.

Ill rank them for you off 63... Best Ramp is Caney, 2nd best is Preachers, Third is Westwood, and yes it can be accessed from 63. Fourth would be Sandy...
