I have a 2013 FX 20 and am in the process of replacing the trolling motor which is a 45"
I want to go to a 52" shaft on the next Trolling Motor - will I have issues fitting this on my boat? I am do not to mount or TM head to restrict rod box access nor do I want it hanging outside of the perimeter of my rub rail.
Any input would be appreciated.
Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

If you have to raise the TM up to fish shallow then when it's in the rack it can restrict rod locker access if TM head us not turned the correct direction. Other wise its no problem. I have 2014 fx BTW so might be a slight difference but would think it's the same.

I don't believe 7" will make a difference, but the wife thinks so!

I have a 52 on my boat Kenny boy. I always move it up or down the day of but pull my boat with it down. Just less stress on the TM

If you have a custom fit cover stay with a 45" or it wont fit right. If not 52" for sure.

P.s. No matter what you do. Make sure you add 2 straps under the mount. Really helps on a 52". Put some soap on the stainless bolts to make it easier when installing.

I don't believe 7" will make a difference, but the wife thinks so! That's funny right there! To the OP, you should be fine. I have a ZX 20 which pretty much has the same dimensions as the FX 20 and I have a 52" shaft. I still have plenty of room to stand up front and nothing hangs over the edges. You should be good to go!

I have had both, my 2013 had a 45", my 2014 had a 45" shaft and my 2015 had a 52" shaft, all three had the exact same travel cover and all fit fine, I towed my 2015 to all of the opens last year with the cover on and it fit like a glove. As far as room goes, the angle that Skeeter mounts the TM, you wont notice hardly any difference, none that bother me whatsoever. Still could keep the same number of rods etc on the front deck, on my 15' you had to have the TM WAY up to restrict opening the rod box and that would only be while it was stowed, like stated above, I always lowered mine on the mount for rough water or for towing.

That's correct it has to be jacked all the way up to restrict rod locker. And you can not strap it down in the bracket unless you move it bout half way down
