Mid lake. Water stained 54-56 degrees. Air temp...freaking cold. Caught a limit plus a few culls on Black/Blue craws in 2-8 ft of water. Had to have a deep water access close on the outside bend on a creek channel. Bite was really subtle. If line would get lite a fish was on. Every single fish would start swimming very slowly toward deep water(usually toward the boat) once they grabbed it. There was no actual classic thump. First 2 hook sets of the morning resulted in both claws torn off. We had to adjust to the most unnerving technique to get a hook set. We had to let the fish take it and let them swim. Sometimes for 10-15 seconds. We relied on Garlic spray about every 10 casts to keep them interested in the lure long enough(a few spit out until we started doing this) As they were swimming we had to very slightly twitch the craw to make them suck it in. Felt like an eternity. Once we felt the fish suck it in you had to set the hook immediately. By then the fish had swam dang near under the boat so the hooks sets were zero stretch cross eyed hook sets. 20# floro. Had to upgrade to 4/0 to make sure hook long enough not to short set the hook up. Ended up with a 19# stringer. Also, all fish were caught when the rain was falling. Not a single bite if it wasn't.
I never mind telling about the What, When and How.....but dont ask WHERE. We all work too hard for that part! Plus I have no more tournaments on TB. Good luck and tight lines...

Great report.......
Guess I was too freaky cold and wet to feel those suckers bite, plus I was fishing too fast.
Right spot, wrong technique.

Congrats!! We had a small limit on c-rigs 6-12' outside edge and in some grass. Did see a nice fish (7-8lb) caught pitching a jig in the same area. Coach

Retrieve of craw had to be painfully slow....
