The Lake Fork Anglers 4th tournament of 2016 will be Thursday Feb 18th out of Oak Ridge Marina.

Registration starts at 7:00 AM at Oak Ridge. The tournament starts at 8:00 AM and runs until 4:00 PM. You have until 4:30 PM to bring your score sheets to be scored with payout and "the rest of the story" to follow.

Anglers may go out of any ramp they want too.

Results from Feb 4th:

The water temps at Fork are still at about 50 degrees. Maybe it has the fish confused because even the guides are having a hard time finding fish that want to eat. This morning started out pretty cold at 28 degrees but at least the wind was light.
Today's fish were mainly caught on jigs, chatter baits and square bills, except for those caught on 24' on drop shots. But even though the weather was cold we had a record number of seniors out on the water giving it their best. And for the first time we paid out 5 places plus lunker.

1st place went to Stan Norton with 1 fish for 5.25 which was also the lunker of the day. .
2nd place went to Bruce Allen with 1 fish for 3.64.
3rd place went to Charlie Abresch with 3 fish for 3.34.
4th place went to Jerry Krone with 1 for 3.32.
And 5th place was a 3 way tie:
Bill Ailes, Butch Grove, and Jim Morgan each had one fish that weighed 3.02.

How is that even possible. Because we measure and release, and record on a sheet.

31 fished and 12 caught 15 fish total.

Boat seat drawings are held after the 2nd tournament each month for the following month. We changed the guidelines somewhat at the last meeting to cap the club at 40 members with a waiting list. We also created separate categories for Boaters and co-anglers starting in 2016 each fishing for separate Angler of the year Awards and a place on a Top 6 team. The top three in each will earn those awards.

And as we are now approaching our goal of 40 anglers we are really only looking for non-boaters
right now. Members must fish with us at least 8 times in a given year to be able to renew to the next year. But if they really expect to fish for angler of the year they will have to do more like 18. Non-boaters have it made. They get taken to good spots, shown working techniques and the right baits. It is a 100% learning experience for $13 a tournament. Which you can then win back.

The LFA fishes every other Thursday daytime at Lake Fork only. Persons interested in joining or fishing as a guest should e-mail me at sjbasser@aol.com.

Here is your opportunity to fish with friendly knowledgeable Lake Fork anglers for the cost of a $5 annual dues and a $13 entry fee. Slot fish count. No teams.

Sometimes Fork is a big question mark. But even though we don't always slay them a few will figure it out and win the money. And then tell everyone attending the "weighin" how, what, and where. What you need to know to duplicate that feat.
