I have not heard of them running up the river yet. Fished it Friday and nothing. Nobody else catching either.

Thanks for the report. I'm looking to get up there this year. Three rivers is a bit of a drive. Canyon would be so much closer.

I took my son after school Friday and only got to fish about 1.5 hours, we caught a mixed bag on minnows in 26 foot of water. 3 nice crappie, 3 whites, and 1 striper that went 18 inches.

I was on Canyon today, launched at Rebecca Creek. Ran down to Cranes Mill and saw nothing on the fishfinder ( was looking for schools of whites near the mouth). Ran up to the rapids and found nothing their either. Saw a lot of boats fishing in the stumps for what I assume was crappie. I think it's still a bit early. The water is higher than I have seen it in the last 7 years, I think this spring will be a good one for Whites.

If you put in at Rebecca creek are the rapids to the left or the right and how far are they? Accessible by kayak?

Go right from Rebecca Creek launch (upstream). I would guess it is at least 5 miles up the river. It would be closer to launch at the Rebecca Creek Road bridge in the kayak and paddle downstream from there. IHMO.

Cbag1,
If you launch at the crossing over Rebecca Creek with a kayak you can go downstream and hit the first set of rapids in about half a mile. After that there will be deep slow water for about 1/4 mile and then you hit the rapids most people refer to as the rapids. The last time the water was this high the whites piled up at the second rapids upstream ( the one 1/2 mile from the Rebecca Creek crossing) and the fishing was crazy good at that location, that was in the last week of March 2007 I think, but I could be off by a year. Some boats could be pulled through the downstream rapids back then. I was able to pull my G3 through in December, but did not try on Monday.

I launched at ramp 23 by cranes mill and found them in the main lake. Trolling rattle traps caught a 22" striper and 2 small whites... Water temp was 57.. Trolling in 30-40ft of water... I was just testing a new water pump i installed but turned out to be somewhat productive.

Thanks. I will go take a look at the Rebecca creek bridge. Is there any place to park at the bridge? I know before the new bridge they ticketed people for parking on the side of the roadway.
Just one more cast!
