The reason why I'm asking, I've used Shimano my entire life and I'm debating on trying something else. I love my curados from the 200e7 and older but I'm less than impressed with my 2 new ones.

A little steep for my budget. You had good luck with Daiwa in the past?

Steez 100XS. On a Steez MH XF rod. 7.9 ratio. It can get the slack out of line really fast. Has balls to handle BIG fish. 10 lb drag is not the highest rated drag around, but it is a superior quality drag that is very consistent and more than enough to properly preserve line and keep a bass pinned.

A little steep for my budget. You had good luck with Daiwa in the past? Yes, Daiwa, Shimano, and Lews. My favorite reels. Older Shimano Chronarch 100SV, Core, and Curado E, Citica E (with upgraded bearings) Daiwa, Steez, Zillion, Sol, Lexa Lews BB1, BB1 Pro, Super Duty FYI I like the E series better than the newer I series also.

Do you have the Curado G or the I reel? If you have the I series, get Ron @ Reel Time Rods @ lake Fork to put you some ceramic bearings in it. You will like it way better after that.

Tackle warehouse had them on sale for a while. 25% off plus whatever the store wide sale was in addition. Bought one for $309. Regularly they were right at $600. I think they are discontinued. The only way to get a "real" Steez now is via Megabass as a HyperLariat model. And with the Japanese yen conversion right now it is a steal at around $509. That's the Yuki Ito tuned version with lighter spool, ceramic bearings, carbon handle, and custom paint.

I have 2 of the I series not any of the G's. That intrigues me to swap the bearings. Do you know if Olson's here in Fort Worth can do that and what bearings should I put in them?

I am not sure about Olsons, you will have to call them. Ron did mine and they cast a lot better than with the stock bearings, by far.
