Ok I'm more than likely going with either a new Helix 7, 899CI SI, or a used 998C SI in new condition. Opinions? The used 998 is still the highest with the 899 coming in second and the helix being the cheapest of the three. Thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

Which one of the six Helix 7 models ????

The other two are Side Imaging units.

There are two 998's and they are 8" displays with external GPS antennas
998c SI Combo circa 2010-2011
998c HD SI Combo circa 2012-2013
Of those two, the HD version is be best since it has a brighter display--LED vs.CCFL

The 899ci HD SI Combo is the newest of the number name models and has a 7" display and an internal GPS antenna. Circa 2014-2015

All three of the above a linkable to another unit to share data and Ethernet accessories and have dual card readers.

No Helix 7 model is linkable to any unit, only has one card reader for mapping or screenshots/recordings in the GPS version. Has a brigher display than the above units and is a current model. It is a 7" display. Internal GPS antenna

Helix 12 CHIRP MEGA SI+ GPS G3N and G4N, 1198c SI, SOLIX 10 SI G3,
Helix 8 MEGA SI+ GPS G4N, SOLIX 12 SI and G3, MEGA 360, MEGA LIVE TL, RC-1

On thing to consider about the Helix 7 is it has no preset view buttons.

I would get 8999 way before I would get a helix seven. The helix series is just replacing the 1100 series.

Size is king. I know the 1199's are sold out But I think there are several 999's still available. If you can find a 1199 gobble it up.

I just purchased the helix 12 today from David at shut up and fish. I will give a report in a few days

Inaccurate about the Helix series. There is a Helix 5 series, a Helix 7 series, a Helix 9 series, a Helix 10 series, and a Helix 12 series. Those are replacing ALL the number series models.

So go with size over Helix or not.. I really need to stay between $650-800, of course this is Ebay lol so I should prob just go with whatever has the biggest screen. No, not for my kayak, this is goin in my little aluminum CC.
