Anyone know of a guy that rebuilds outboards? I'd do it but I would still need someone to bore the cylinders over .015, so I need someone who can do that much at least. One cylinder reads the bottom cylinder reads 110psi the top 40psi. I figure the top was gas washed because of the corroded power wires going to the coils. Thanks guys.

You need a motor machine shop that does outboards. I know where a real good 1989 40hp Mariner is complete with stainless steel prop and controls for 800.00 It is the year they used Yamaha powerheads.

Gary thanks but I'm currently not interested in buying another motor. I have a line on a parts motor. Currently I'm just needing advise on which direction to go with my 402. I want to know what shop won't charge me an arm and leg to bore the cylinders to fit over sized rings.I'll rebuild the rest.

Most shops get 75.00 per hole to bore and finish hone to clearance.

Thanks Gary! That's not bad at all. Anyone know of a shop in the DFW that will do that?

Tommy you are the man! Dwayne has some great pricing. I'm going to tear the power head apart and take it to him. Thank you man! After its all put back together I'll be coming to you for a couple props...

Well guys I've decided not too build this merc it's not looking like it will be reliable even after the rebuild.
In about a month or so I'll be looking at buying a used 40hp outboard. Anyone have any leads on a good one other then mercury? Omc, Nissan, suzuki, Yamaha?

The 40hp Mariner motor is still available I told you about. I have not been able to get more info on it because I have been having health issues but should be good to go in another week after having a stent put in last Thursday. I know this motor will work for you with some minor repair. Water pump and a carb cleaning.

Thank you Gary. May you be blessed with a speedy recovery. Does this outboard have power tilt and trim?
