I'm man enough to say that some lakes scare the tar out of me. Sam Rayburn is one of them and Palestine is a close second. Sam Rayburn is an absolute beast with any wind at all. I've had two really close calls there. Palestine scares me more for stumps that I can't see!

I live in in Nac and I have only fished on Big Sam only 1 time when I was younger. Now that I have a boat I'm still kind of skeptical about fishing out there even though i hear the fishing is great. Im right there with you.

Im right there with you. I feel bad about not fishing it more, but I've had nothing but bad things happen when I've gone there. Went with my father in law on a day that was supposed to be 5 mph winds in his 14ft flat bottom. We headed back to the ramp in 2-3 ft waves while I bailed out water as fast as I could. You could see stumps, then you couldn't see any. Buddy almost fell out of the back of the boat while going through the river at Kingtown while I was holding the light (about 4am.) he hit a stump with the motor that was just enough to knock the tiller out of his hands and knock him backwards. His head was in the water and didn't have enough room to pull the kill switch. Then on our last trip there, someone stole my spare tire off the trailer.

Maybe fork, caddo is a little bit sketchy to navigate in a 22' Center console like we did, I've never been worried about waves.

Tawakoni is at the top of my list. I love that lake but with wind out of the wrong direction she can be be very intimidating!

Fort Phantom, Cisco....both very spooky and lots of bodies have been pulled out of them.
Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway

Texoma, Ray Roberts, Lavon, Lewisville are the worst in a Hard north or south wind

Livingston, Palestine, Fork, Ray Roberts, and any timber covered lake I haven't been on yet. RESPECT is a better word for it. Being cautious and safe are a must on these types of lakes.
