Hey guys!! So they stock little ponds in Texas with Rainbow Trout-- I've heard about power bait/power eggs, and what hooks to use, etc-- but what about rooster tails, mepps/panther martin spinnners, and kastmaster spoons? What size do you think I should use for these smaller 1 ft ish stocked trout? 1/4 oz? 1/8 oz? Thanks

The rebel craw fish lure is deadly!!! Get the small one and get a couple of colors I like the light brown color.

I've had good luck with #0 and #1 Mepps and the 1/16 and 1/8 once rooster Tails. Went out Friday afternoon and hooked 9 or 10 Rainbow Trout, landed 4. I really need to get a net I can hook on to my waders.

I bought everything suggested!! When using 3/8 egg weight to swivel, what size swivel is appropriate? Size 12 is what is given in Shakespear's trout combo-- I use size 7 swivels when catfishing, should I use these 12 sized ones for trout with my 6lb test?
I also bought size 1 of the rapala, forgot you said size 5-- was going off how small the mepps/rooster tails are-- woopsie-- also i see the 1/8 oz countdown lures on amazon and they have 2 trebles, while this one has only 1--

That might be a 3. Didn't have them that small back when I was trout fishing.
Just checked. That's a size 1.

Mash the barbs on the hooks down, it will make your life much easier. These are my go-to colors for trout. Go with 1/8 or 1/16 oz. Fish them slowly. Trout have excellent vision and can be very finicky.

I go minimalist and tie directly on, I figure the less for the trout to see the better. I also use forceps to get the hook out, those trout have small mouths. 4 lb line for a pond, nothing more than 6 lb line.

Gold super Duper Lures have worked the best for me catching trout! Acadamey usually has them.

Here is the trout lure size I prefer: haha, what the heck is that thing used for!!! It turns out that bass have also learned that trout are very tasty. They are the primary reason some bass in California get as large as they are - they are in lakes routinely stocked with (dumb) hatchery trout that make an easy/nutritious meal. A 5 pound bass will eat an 8 inch trout. Ten+ pound bass think nothing of a 10+ inch bait - be it trout or shiner, etc.
