I bet you read this! roflmao

My buddy, Machinist (Johnny), hasn't paid much attention to the forums lately like he usually does.... Unbeknownst to him, I'm typing this post to give him praise as not only a good buddy but one heck of a guy.

Johnny currently has a bass buggy type of boat sitting in front of his house (no sale sign), one of the 8-10' boogers. When I asked him about the boat this morning and whether he was trying to sell it, he replied, "Why, do you want it?" he continued, "Just come by and get it." Johnny went on to tell me he had another boat like it (in addition to his bass boat) and would be happy for me to have the little boat for no charge whatsoever. I insisted I bring by $100 to compensate him for the boat and he said, "Well, whatever you wanna do." (truly doesn't care about the money)....

To top it off, he offered to give me a trolling motor to go with the boat for free (I already have a few trolling motors and respectfully declined the offer)..

Talk about a good guy, I hope this post shows at least a fraction of my gratitude to him.... This man gives and gives to the locals and is a good representative of the crappie fishing community.

My hats off to you, sir.

I have a nice little jon boat (14') but it's a hassle in comparison and the trailer is shoddy. I believe I'll be able to load and unload this (back of truck) by hand. I should be able to fish quite a few new places... smile

@sapalmer - alternating all the local spots and Indian Mound sure is one of my favorites. They're still not in it very thick but I'm betting in a couple - three weeks, that'll change.

Exactly why the crappie community is a great place. This post by Jerry and the one by Mo about cleaning out tackle and donating it and the others who chimed in about helping other people with tackle just shows the true heart of good fishermen. clap thumb

@Mr. Gaby - I couldn't agree more.

Headed to test her out right now!
(Went to Johnny's and picked up the boat since initial post and he says, "I don't care when ya pay me, Jerry, just see if you like it first and then worry about the pay whenever...")

Thanks again, Johnny!

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention, taking a buddy of mine this evening who has never been crappie fishing before. Will be nice to get off the bank and actually have a chance of hitting a few with him. Banks have been ssslowwwww.

Jerry, thank you for the kind words and I hope it does what you want to do. You are raising a fine looking son that I am sure will be a great fishing partner before long.

Lake Graham, what we call the "2nd Bridge," aka Kindley Park. Was able to get on the water just fine. Love how easy it is to load and unload the boat. Fish didn't cooperate but it won't be long before I'll be glad to have this super convenient little boat.

She floats just fine. I'm going to try to get it under some bridges again soon and will letcha know if I do any good.
Thanks for the kind words about little Jerry. He's from a long line of fishermen and I cannot wait for him to hit the water with me. His sister loves fishing and just helped me clean and bag 7 crappie. "Bubba" has already laid claim on the little boat... hah!
cheers to true friends.

Johnny is good people! I fish Graham all the time. We've exchanged PMs a few times. Once when the lake was real low, I told him I was going to try to launch. He told me to give him a call if I got stuck and he'll get his tractor and pull me out. I drive by his house every time I'm out there. One day, this year I'm going to try to meet him face to face.

Happy and Safe Fishing,
