So with this crazy warming trend the fish seemed to either move a lot or just shut down for me with some really low catch rates. Then Sunday came and with much the same results I was getting very frustrated. Then about half way through the day as I made my way as far back in a pocket as I could get my skeeter, I started throwing a buzz bait, yes a black papa's buzz from Papa's Baits, and about 10 minutes into this a fish crushes it coming completely out of the water! It was about 4 1/2 lbs and I just kept saying dude, dude. Don't ask why that was my commentary of choice, lol. Anyway myself and my customer both started throwing buzz baits and proceeded to catch 6 fish with a couple more only rolling on the bait. The rest were around 2-3 lbs. While these weren't great numbers or size by any means, I felt this was to cool of a story not to share.

Here's a couple pics from this weekend, the first is the best of the day Saturday and second is the first and best buzz bait, January fish I've ever seen, lol!

Still have some February dates available and it can be a great chance to catch a giant, give me a call or message if I can help in anyway on your next Lake Fork trip!

Great story and more proof the fish don't read the books and magazines like we do.

Thanks for sharing. Was frustrating this weekend for me also. It seemed like the bite picked up later in the day Sunday but it wasn't me that caught any of them haha...

Nice fish Billy, looks like it was the Papa's Buzz that you were using, and not a regular buzz bait

Goes to show you never know what they will start biting on. Great story.

Best buzz bait day I ever had was in February with 52 degree water.

I keep a buzz bait tied on all the time. Great reaction bait. I was throwing one about 2 weeks ago but no luck.

I remember a B.A.S.S event years ago where one of the guys was throwing a buzz bait and it was snowing and the guy caught some good fish on it. It was on Table Rock if I remember correctly.

Glad you caught some on it and thanks for sharing.

That was an awesome experience!! "The fish have no idea it's only January 31st." Lol!

I kind of did the same thing Sunday morning on Caddo. Some nice cloud cover and south wind was the situation and I tied on yellow magic. I was working a grass flat and popped three bass in the first 20 casts or so. Biggest was around 3.5 pounds. No monsters but I felt good about 'fishing the moment' like you hear some of the pros say.

Great story...same thing happened to us the weekend before last. We caught about 15 in 47 degree water and about a foot of water. None were under 3 pounds. Would've never guessed that day to be so good.
