Anybody still use these? I used to throw 'em a bit back in the day...still have a few, but they haven't seen any use in 25 years. I remember the hook up ratio being horrible.

Put a trick worm trailer on them and they look like a small snake. Great pond bait!!!
See you on the lake and have a great day!

Yeah, I used to throw 'em in ponds and lakes around heavy grass with a twin-tail grub...the gold one with a chartreuse grub was the ticket.

Open the hook gap a bit and sharpen it. You may snap one now and then doing this, but it's worth it. The hook style on those is part of the problem as it's old-school - angles inward too much where a round-bend would be better. That tweak will increase the hook-up. They are great for ticking grass-beds; something the lipless jerkbait did NOT start. Silver Minnows were doing it long before.

Had one of my best days ever on Fork sometime in the mid 90's. Tons of grass and the fish were in it. Couldn't find anything to throw without bringing in a salad after a turn or two of the handle. Saw a Johnson silver minnow in one of my boxes and a jar of porko's. BOOM! Caught a bunch of bigger slot fish and I think one over. Bet I haven't thrown it 20 times since then. Also might have been the last time I saw a porko.

I always found that the hook was dull out of the package. Had to spend some time sharpening them. That said, my favorite addition to the minnow was a sliver of Uncle Josh Pork rind. Since they quit making them, I doubt the minnow will see much action any more.
