I'm going to be in the Belton area this weekend and thought I'd take my boat since I haven't fished that lake in a few years. I'm planning on hitting the water about 10 a.m. tomorrow in search of some hybrid action. No promises on catching but I wouldn't be surprised if we stumbled upon a few hybrids. Shoot me a text if you're interested.

I think with the cool water, but recent warm up everything is scattered right now. Saturday evening I was catching bait on the north end of the lake in less than 10 feet of water. On one throw I though I had a big buffalo but when I pulled it into the boat it turned out to be a 22" hybrid. I think some fish are starting to make there way up the lake but still no big concentrations of them.

Have fished with CR on several bodies of water and it is crazy how fast he can change gears and put together a pattern and make it look easy. If you ever get the chance to fish with him (especially salt water) you should jump at it. Have heard his brother is the same way down on Livingston and Conroe. Great job as usual Chris!

Great report and pics! Are those hybrids also down below at the bottom in 70 ft?

Those big concentrations are out on the 50 foot flats chasing bait fish. Last week I caught and released 12 doubles on 12 drops but they were all undersized. By fall there may be some good fishing. Come on good rain and a good shad spawn.

Yes sir Mr. Salsa... Fish going up and flukes going down haha Martin I hope we get to hit the saltwater again soon! I think the some of the deeper fish are hybrids as well but I always have more success catching the fish that mark highest in the water column. I wasn't able to locate any fish on the flats but they move around so much I'm sure they are on them some days. I was really amazed by the lack of baitfish in deep water. I'm sure there are lots of nice fish to be caught up North but I just didn't have time to go look. That pattern usually takes some time to discover on an unfamiliar lake and is best left to tight lipped locals
