Congrats on figuring it out. One of the better fishermen, Rick Clunn, says it is NEVER TOO COLD to throw a buzz bait and this is proof. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Glad you we're with me to experience. Guaranteed most laughs and "dudes" we've ever had in a day

Was fishing on Fork this past Monday. Started Fishing deep water and no bites. Around 2:00pm the sun started to pop out. I followed a creek channel back into a cove and found 56 degree water. I had been throwing a drop shot and jig all day with no luck. Picked up a spinnerbait and threw up to some isolated little flooded weeds. On the first cast and about 3 turns of the handle and bam, an 8lb. bass. She wasn't in more that a foot of water. What was wierd was that I threw back in the same spot on the next cast and caught a 3lb fish. I did not see a bed as the water was really off color. I fished the rest of the cut and did not catch another fish. On my way back out of the cove I went back to that same spot. Threw into the same weeds and caught another 3lb. bass. Just one of those things I guess.

Was fishing Saturday as well in a tournament and caught 6 fish on a spinner bait on one spot of grass about the size of the hood of my truck in 1-2 ft and biggest was 5.8 lbs.Grass draws heat from the sun that is why they were there.

I catch fish shallow all winter every year. I remember years past catching them on traps in 1-2 ft at 43 degree water. Never Say Never. Not all fish go deep. Same thing in the summer.

Had a customer many years ago and the deep bite was not happening and it was 103 degrees. I told him I know a spot we got to go try. I ran into a field pulled up to a fence line where you could see the post out of the water.

I said throw right between these two post cause there is a big tree that fell over the fence and is right there. He looks at me and say there is no way there is a fish that shallow in this heat. I said I catch them shallow all year no matter what the temp is.

You could see the disgust on his face but that changed after about the third cast on the tree in 3 ft in 103 degrees. He set the hook on a 11 lb 3 oz beast. He looks at me and goes no way !!!! I said I told you !

After we took pictures and laughed a bit I threw to the same tree and caught one over 8 lbs. He looks at me again and goes well I guess I do not know much about fishing. I laughed again and said well I guess that is why I get paid the Big Bucks !!

Point is to every fisherman never assume the fish are all deep or shallow they are creatures/preditors and must eat where ever they can get a meal. Just thought I would share this story.
