Anyone see the skinned gator in Norris creek on Rayburn. Looks like some just took the skin and threw the carcass in the lake.

Looked like an 8-10 ft gator.

Wasn't my comment, but I imagine hes someone that enjoys being in the water and gators relocating to places like Sam Rayburn where they weren't originally native....is irritating. They serve no purpose in my mind on the ecosystem.

There was a big one in Hog Branch on Hatvey Creek for years. No one has seen it in a couple of years. Rumor has it the wild hogs ate the carcass.

There was a small one around East Fork Marina on Lavon a few years back. Not sure if anyone has seen it recently. I'm guessing that after the lake dried up so much that it moved on. There was a lot of us that had our slips all set up for crappie, so it probably had a buffet in that area anytime it was hungry.

We saw it. One of the little cuts on the right side going in to Norris. We thought it was a small sunken boat until we got close. That thing was gross barf

Not sure where this leaves Rayburn but y'all got my wheels turning and this is what I dug up. Either way they're game animals and hopefully these guys get caught.

Population
Nearly completely eliminated in the 1950's for the skin and meat trade American alligators are one of the biggest conservation successes.
An estimated 5 million American alligators are now spread out across the southeastern United States. Roughly 1.25 million alligators live in the state of Florida alone.

Range
American alligators occur in Florida, southern Texas, Louisiana and parts of North and South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. The majority of American alligators inhabit Florida and Louisiana. However, the alligators range appears to have been increasing to the north and east in the last few years.
