Went to Ovichick in Mexico this past week with Donald Harper
Donald and I ended up with 435 bass in 6 days up to 8lbs in our boat.

Went with a group of 7 people in 3 boats.

With a short day on Saturday evening after we arrived and unpacked we caught about 25 bass up to 5 lbs, then proceeded to catch 1200 bass over the next 6 days as follows.
Day 1
We had 99 fish up to 8 lbs, I caught the 8 on the first cast.
Boat 2 had 60 fish up to 6 lbs
Boat 3 had 82 up to 4 lbs

Day 2
We had 66 fish up to 6 lbs
Boat 2 had 62 fish up to 4 lbs
Boat 3 caught 139 up to 6.8 lbs

Day 3 We had 58 fish up to 6.7 lbs, , Donald missed a big one, she came up and spit the lure right back at him.
Boat 2 had 46 bass up to 4.5 lbs,
Boat 3 had 36 bass up to 4.5 lbs,

Day 4 we caught 69 fish up to 4 lbs.
Boat 2 caught 64 up to 5 lbs.
Boat 3 caught 79 up to 5 lbs, and they had boat problems.

Day 5 we fished what they call the north river
We caught 69 fish up to 5.6lbs.
Boat 2 caught 30 up to 4 lbs
Boat 3 caught 44 up to 5 lbs

Day 6 We caught 64 fish up to 5.7
Boat 2 caught 61 up to 5.9 lbs.
Boat 3 caught 70 fish up to 8 lbs 12 ounces with the monster on a spook

Hard fighting fish, chunky monkey's!

Food was simply awesome, never felt unsafe, all the talk about the Cartel and the dangers are just talk. I'll be going back.

We met two old men in their 70's coming out at immigration who where coming in from Phoenix said this was there 37th year of coming down.

Here's my biggest

I book the trips there. I can fly you in or you can drive in and fish out of a 20 ft. boat with me or one of the other guys. You and a partner can also follow us in if you want to take your boat. Either way you only pay the expense of the trip. A 10 day drive in is $4,000 for you and a partner all inclusive. We stay with Angle at Marina Del Ray on the lake. Cabins have full kitchens but we eat supper in the restaurant each night.

You are welcome to book your own fly in trip through the website in my signature at www.lakeoviachic.com
Angle has 19 and 20 ft. bass boats to fish out of if you want to fly and only have 3 days to stay. His prices includes a guide and meals on the website.

The lake drops about a foot of water each day, so these bass have learned to spawn in deeper water. There were a couple of areas where you could do some sight fishing, but in reality, it's 90% just flipping bushes.

This is my take on the beds and why we don't pull out more 10+ Bass. The big Yellow Fin Males weigh about 4 to 5 lbs. They are beat up most of the time; so they are pushing those big females up there and have them cowed down to where they want bite. We have tried everything on this lake where I have labeled them as nesters and not schoolers. Many times we have tried putting the big males in the live well and come back to only find another male has taken over in less than an hour.

I did get one over 10 to bite but made too long of a cast sitting in the back chair with a bad hook set. She came up and walked about 4 feet and spit the brush hog out.

Yellow Fin Male over 4 lbs.
