Be advised, there is a LOT of boat traffic in Estes Flats right now.

None of our bays have been impacted adversely by the limited rains we have received over the last week or so.

In fact, I've had to water my yards plants and outdoor ferns twice this week.

I was down there on the 22-24th and we managed to boat a few trout off of platform pads, lost a few, caught a LOT of gafftops on RR/gulp on 40 acre reef, and caught a LOT of undersized trout drifting grass and sand on the east shoreline just north of Holiday beach.

All in all not a bad trip and I am beginning to really get the bay system. Another benefit is I have become a firm believer in the Rockport Rattler/Gulp combo... so much that I am considering not using live bait at all unless necessary.

Good report from the "backyard" Brandon. thumb

Another good WadeFish Rockport report this weekend, this one from Steve from Fredricksburg from the "front yard".

Same thing Steve found, I have been finding in the areas I have been wade fishing, the reds are running around in the same vicinity with the trout.

Nice pics Steve.

Grinder,

I was hoping to head down there next week with some friends and wanted to know what part of the bay they're on? Are they up in Mesquite on the reefs or they on the sand and grass flats farther south in Aransas/Port A? I'm just trying to get down a general idea for a pattern. Also, are people catching any over at Cedar Bayou? Thanks in advance for any pointers!

On another note, Daniel, did y'all catch any a couple of weeks ago?

FW2, reports are good on all bays. Cedar Bayou has had its usual spring time run now that its open again, with good trout reports coming from the 2nd & 3rd chain of isle in Mesquite and Ayers area.

Birds are working and active in some of these areas with some nice 15 1/2 - 17" trout under them.

It can't do anything but get better when those "yellow mouth" trout start invading the back bays.

Wade fishing grass lines early paid off for Richard & Jeff today.

That's a nice way to start a day of fishing with a Texas Slam.

I am heading down this weekend again grinder with the wife and son, staying at Goose Island. How are the recent rains and inflow from Copano Creek affecting fishing? Any recent hot spots from your locations (numbers) that have been paying off? We are really thinking about concentrating on St. Charles and/or maybe Port bays during the day and the fishing pier at night.

If you have a boat, I would go south. I went last week and got nothing going north.

Appreciate it FishWrangler, but I am boat-less this trip. I could probably work my way east down the southern end of Blackjack Peninsula towards Dunham Point since I have a kayak to cross the channels but otherwise I am stuck to locations I can paddle/wade easily.

Well, if you have a yak, then go to the Estes flats. I heard some people were doing pretty well over there right before we left. It may be a slight hike in the car, but I think it would be worth it. You can just drop in at Palm harbor or something and paddle across the intercoastal

Piscatorial Assassin we got a decent amount of rain specific to Rockport area on Sunday, some misty stuff the last few days - nothing at all what they forecasted, including this morning.

However, looks like we will get a decent amount of rain later today.

Location #16 should have value, I'd use croakers or lures - early morning or at dusk. ( Moon is over our head around the 6 pm time period right now )

I've had steady trout action at all locations I've fished and that should continue or get better since the serious Low Pressure system we are experiencing
is also flooding our bays with fresh SaltH20 from the Gulf of Mexico.

Sunset is @ Location #1 yesterday.

Grinder 55, are you starting to see any solid to trophy trout? I know other parts of the coast have been catching them for some time, and as of the last few weeks we are starting to catch trout from 22-28 inches. All our big trout have come out of areas where we catching a lot of redfish.

Yes Nathan - I've been reporting the reds are running with the trout.

Nice catch late this evening by a WadeFish Rockport angler after the rains came through this afternoon - he took my advice on some texts we exchanged on a location I recommended and ended his evening and trip down to Rockport today with some solid fish as the sun set.

Well I have to give my wife and son credit, we didn't catch anything all weekend but they ground it out with me each day. Getting frustrated... Maybe I should take up
Golf...
