Just flushed the bearings and spooled it up, very smooth. Gonna try it out tomorrow and will post a review tomorrow evening.

I love all my Steez reels. I have several 103H's but, I'm not sure what the XS is?

The point was that fishing has gotten virtually insane on what people think they have to spend (and do spend) on equipment. I'd venture to say many spend it when other things that should have priority don't get it - like paying off high interest debt, retirement funding, or maybe even a student loan....

The xs is the 8.1 gear ratio. As far as the comments about what people spend on their equipment, to each his own. I have some 80 dollar reels and some 600 dollar reels, but would never pay that much for one. Anyways, the steez sv is a pretty awesome reel, like the line pickup on it. Casts great and very accurate. Didn't get to test the drag today, fish were stubborn today....

What do you use a 8:1 reel for? I've heard pitching and flipping but then I've heard that lower ratios have more power to pull the fish out. I've never used one with that high of gears. I'm just too old!!! Hell, I still use a Daiwa TDZ 100, which has a 5.7:1 ratio for spinnerbaits. Just curious...

I bought it primarily for swim jigs, which I fish a lot year round. This is the fastest reel I own, but to be honest I found a good deal on one and since I had wrist surgery, ive been swapping over to lighter reels to keep from getting sore when I fish all day long. And also for flipping and pitching and frog fishing.

You guys are wasting money! Hahah.

Just kidding. I've bought a boat using money I've won with my Steez gear. Great product. It will leave little doubt that if a fish isn't caught, that it was your fault and not the gear. Haha. I haven't tried the less expensive SV version. How's it compare to the originals?

Cheese with that wine?
Fishing is a sport that requires tools some buy harbor freight tools or some by snap-on.

How is a reel "accurate"? I can understand "smooth" or "low friction", and "long-casting" if you wish, but having trouble associating the word accurate.
