Last weekend my buddy told me my runner boards were missing a few screws and looked a little broken.... [img:left]http://[/img]
Yep! Sure enough those runner boards were rotted thru. They were the factory ones from 2011 when I bought the boat new from bass pro. Don't forget to check your runner boards now and then ladies and gents. I fear next time I would have trailered the boat I would have been in a heap of trouble.....
Made the news one out of pressure treated wood and put quite a few coats of outdoor latex paint on them to help slow downthe rotting. Good fishing to ya all and don't neglect that trailer!!!

Good news coach. I too look at my trailer when the boat is off of it.

Glad you caught it in time. Did not think of painting them before attaching the carpet. Great idea!

Question: what did you do with your boat during the refit? I have been putting off replacing mine for years.

Hey fritz, I jacked up the boat off the trailer while switching out the bunks. Lowered the front as low as it could go, two jack stands in the back with 2x4s on them and then raised the front back up. Gave me just enough clearance to get the old ones off and new ones on. Some YouTube vids out their on it.

I use treated lumber when replacing the bunks. Carpet, measure and mark everything before leaving for the lake. Splash the boat, change out the bunks, and go fishing.
